Your Federal or State refunds could be offset to pay past due obligations.
Your refund could be reduced for one or more of the following:

Delinquent Child-Support Debt

Delinquent State Income Taxes

Delinquent Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program(SNAP)

Unemployment Benefits to be repaid due to fraud or failure to report earnings

ANY State Agency Debt

Debt for property taxes, delinquent fines, bails, vehicle parking penalties, and court-ordered payments from counties and cities.

Delinquent registration, tuition, bad check fees, library fines, and federally subsidized student loans from California Colleges.
To see if your refund has been offset, check your refund status online. Once your refund has been offset by a debt, you must contact the debtor for further options. The IRS nor the FTB will be able to provide assistance regarding your refund offset.
